2019 Kids Huddle wrap up

A typical Premiership season in Geelong sees GMHBA Stadium awash with blue and white. It’s inescapable in a town where the Cats reign supreme.

Enter the Kids Huddle, which engages local primary schools and community groups to put together magnificent welcome posters and add an ounce off opposition colour for visiting teams.

Drawings and messages of encouragement are displayed just inside the player’s race for the opposing team, cutting through the blue and white noise and encouraging kindness and a welcoming spirit towards people outside of our community.

The Kids Huddle is a feel-good initiative, started in 2018 by the Trust, to build a warm and friendly environment for everyone. This is an awesome opportunity for local kids to engage with the Stadium, the AFL and the community. Getting involved on game day allows kids and their schools to feel a part of something bigger.

Thank you to Nelson Park PS, Armstrong Creek PS, Montpellier PS, St Therese Torquay PS, Geelong Baptist College, Barwon Heads PS and Anakie PS who all put in a tremendous amount of effort to create a fun and colourful space for opposition sides during their time at GMHBA Stadium.

If your school would like to be involved in this fantastic initiative for our summer series of events, including Western United’s first-ever ALeague season and two Renegades BBL matches, contact us via enquiries@kardiniapark.vic.gov.au
