The Vision of Sports House is to be the recognised centre for the G21 region that supports the development of sport and recreation from grass roots participation to talent pathways.

Tenants from non-commercial organisations, associations or government entities working in the sport and recreation industry are invited to enquire about tenancy.

Boasting a large, friendly and welcoming open plan office area where ideas are shared and associations and organisations can work together to build on ideas and learn from one another.

As well as its primary function of a sporting hub, some of the other functions it performs include:

Providing a regional point of connection for state and national bodies wanting to work locally

Meeting facilities, including disabled access and free parking

Office and administrative accommodation possibilities for the sport and recreation sector

Provision of an incubator setting enabling sports and their administrators to learn from established professionals


 

Sports house tenants

Sports House tenants are a passionate group, fostering collaboration and driving outcomes for the G21 community and beyond.

The Barwon Sports Academy Inc. provides pathways for aspiring athletes to reach higher goals at state and national levels through development programs, sharing information, ideas and experiences. The BSA is a nonprofit organisation which depends significantly on the support of its partners to ensure it can provide ongoing support to promising athletes in the Barwon Regions.

Football Victoria commenced operation in 1884 under the name Anglo Australian Football Association of Victoria and is one of the oldest sporting associations in Victoria. The staff at Sports House are dedicated to the
development of the game by increasing participation and building the capacity of clubs and associations.

Basketball Victoria is a member driven, governing body providing a range of services for 160 affiliated associations state-wide. In addition to association support, Basketball Victoria coordinates a number of participation and development programs for players, coaches and officials as well as managing representative leagues VJBL, NBL1, Big V and CBL. The Western Region – Basketball Development Officer services 31 associations from Kardinia Park Sports House.

Locally, participation rates for basketball are high across age, gender and ability with Geelong United Basketball (a partnership between Corio Bay Basketball and Basketball Geelong) being the largest regional association in Victoria, in addition to well supported associations at Bellarine Peninsula (Drysdale, Barwon Heads and Ocean Grove) and Surf Coast. One of 10 State High-Performance Hubs is also located in Geelong.

Tennis Victoria (TV) is the representative body of all affiliated clubs, centres, associations, regions and their members throughout Victoria. As the central administrative body of tennis in Victoria, it is Tennis Victoria’s role to manage, co-ordinate, promote, and unify the diverse facets of the sport. In carrying out this role it is Tennis Victoria’s aim to support and service the affiliates it represents.

Cricket Victoria (CV) is the governing body for the sport of cricket in Victoria. It is integrated with the Victorian Women’s Cricket Association to include funding, programs, office accommodation and staff assistance. In 2007, CV administered the 1,182 cricket clubs and 112,000 registered cricketers in Victoria, and 62,774 children involved in school-based competition. Cricket Victoria (CV) celebrates the message that cricket is a game for everyone.

Golf Australia is the governing body for golf in Australia. Their goal is to raise the level of interest and participation in the game from grassroots golfers through to the elite levels, spectators, volunteers and associated industry bodies.

Key responsibilities include conducting national tournaments and championships including the Australian Opens, managing the Rules of Golf and the national handicap system, and developing programs and opportunities to engage as many people as possible into the game.

The Geelong Cricket Association consists of three Divisions, with 36 Clubs and the majority playing on turf wickets. Established in 1896, the Geelong Cricket Association is one of the largest and oldest Cricket Associations in Australia.
