On Wednesday 26 November, the Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative Community Strengthening team held a community connect event in Djilang Plaza at GMHBA Stadium.
The event was a chance for the team to highlight that they are based at Sports House, Kardinia Park while the Morgan Street development is taking place. The Wathaurong team was involved in the review of Sports House and helped us look at the community space in a broader sense, not just as a place that services the sport and recreation sector. We are extremely happy to have the team as a tenant.
Kardinia Park Stadium Trust (KPST) CEO, Gerard Griffin officially launched KPST’s Innovate RAP which was formally endorsed by Reconciliation Australian in March this year. Our Innovate RAP affirms our aspirations for Reconciliation not just within our own community, but more broadly across Australia. We are focused on areas such as employment and procurement opportunities, as well as community engagement and cultural representation.

We recognise the role our organisation plays in contributing to the economic, social, and cultural well-being of our community, and we will continue to strive to create meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals at KPST, and to foster an inclusive and culturally respectful work environment.
You can read KPST’s Innovate RAP here.
Thank you to everyone who came along to the event.
