Kardinia Park is excited to share the environmental and social impact we have been making recently with Recycle4Change, a local award-winning certified social enterprise and registered charity. Recycle4Change creates opportunities for people who have been impacted by the justice system, by providing meaningful employment and wraparound support to help them rebuild their lives, while reducing recidivism.
Recycle4Change operates in partnership with the Victorian State Government’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic) and TOMRA Cleanaway for the region covering North Geelong to Laverton North in Melbourne’s west. We have been working closely with them to improve recycling and waste outcomes at the Stadium. In the last four matches, over 23,000 cans have been collected ensuring our carbon emissions and waste-to landfill performance is where it needs to be.
Kardinia Park CEO, Gerard Griffin welcomed the initiative:
“Recycle4Change reduces landfill and supports our community, this is a partnership that Kardinia Park Stadium Trust is pleased to have.
The Trust is proud to support Recycle4Change at GMHBA Stadium, with their environmental and social change outcomes.“
We are excited to continue focussing on delivering positive environmental and social change for the remainder of the AFL season. If you are attending any upcoming events at GMHBA Stadium, keep an eye out for the purple bins!”
