Less than 2 weeks to go until the Matildas take on China at GMHBA Stadium

The countdown is on until the Westfield Matildas arrive at Kardinia Park for their November 26 clash against China.

The Matildas are riding a wave of success in recent years. 2015 saw them become the first Australian team, men’s or women’s to win a match in the knockout stage of a World Cup. Earlier this year, the Matilda’s won the inaugural ‘Tournament of Nations’ Cup, held in the United States.

The Australia vs China match follows a host of football events that have recently been held at the Stadium, including hosting European giant Atletico Madrid earlier this year. The clash will see some of the world’s best women’s football players such as Sam Kerr, Lisa De Vanna and Han Peng battle it out in front of the newly re-developed Brownlow Stand.

“We are excited to once again showcase world-class football at the best regional stadium in Australia,” Michael Brown, CEO of the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust said.

“One of the Trust’s major objectives is to bring a broad range of major events to Geelong that will add value to the economy and community of Geelong, whilst showcasing the Stadium’s potential and flexibility.”

“The Trust would like to acknowledge the generous support of the State Government of Victoria and the City of Greater Geelong in bringing the Matildas to the Stadium”
