Kardinia Park will host six matches in total across five days, all double headers. Excitingly, Geelong will kick off the entire event on Sunday 16 October, when 2014 Champions, Sri Lanka, take on Namibia in the afternoon. Victoria has one of the biggest Sri Lankan communities in the world, so they’ll be feeling right at home for their three Group A matches at Kardinia Park.
Kardinia Park CEO, Gerard Griffin welcomed todays announcement “Kardinia Park has a proud history of cricket and we look forward to welcoming the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022, alongside passionate fans cheering on their country.”
The remaining two teams to play in Geelong will be decided via global qualifying events held later in 2022.
