In September 2017 the community groups that call Kardinia Park home, came together under the title Kardinia Park Advisory Committee (KPAC).
Although formalized in the Act, the user groups and organisations within the Kardinia Park precinct have long worked together, shared ideas and formed partnerships that see the precinct continue to be a hive of sporting and recreation activity.
Chaired by Simon Guthrie, KPAC is made up of the following representatives:
Simon Guthrie (Chair) | Kardinia Park Stadium Trust |
Michael Brown | Kardinia Park Stadium Trust |
Sue Clark | Geelong Football Club |
Elizabeth Coles | Geelong Central Netball Association |
Cameron Loftus | Barwon Sports Academy |
Brett Luxford | City of Greater Geelong |
Linda Quinn | City of Greater Geelong |
Lucy Anstee | Kardinia Senior Citizens Centre |
Sean Blood | St Mary’s Sporting Club |
Michael Vines | Geelong Cricket Club |
Jennifer Wood | Geelong Football Umpires League |
One of the first priorities for the committee is to inform the development of the Kardinia Park Master Plan. The Master Plan will be developed in consultation with Precinct user groups, the wider community and local businesses. During the most recent meeting, the KPAC members enthusiastically discussed the Master Plan and gave input into their top three priorities to see the precinct flourish for many years.
Unanimously the committee agreed that accessibility, traffic, security and safety were some of the highest priorities for the Precinct. Other priorities include:
- improvements and upgrades to facilities;
- challenges regarding facilities coping with increased load – growth in participation; and
- the Precinct being a hub for larger population predicted to live and work in Geelong city.
