It’s Nearly Finchmas

It’s nearly Finchmas!

The Big Bash League action returns to GMHBA Stadium this Thursday, December 19 when the Renegades take on Sydney Thunder.

The BBL|09 marks the third consecutive season the club has hosted matches at GMHBA Stadium. Geelong and the wider Western region have been fantastic supporters of the Renegades in Geelong, cheering them on in their two matches during the 2018/2019 season and one game in their first season at the Stadium in the 2017/2018.

Thursday’s mild forecast promises to provide a beautiful evening of cricket, so make sure you arrive early to enjoy plenty of activations around the ground, including the Renegades Fan Zone and the chance to meet Santa. There will also be prizes and giveaways to be won pre-game and throughout the match!

This year’s biggest drawcards include hometown hero Aaron Finch, who missed last year’s games in Geelong to play Test cricket, and top order Australian batsman Shaun Marsh, who joined the team over the winter break.

GMHBA Stadium has cemented its status as Regional Victoria’s home of cricket having played host to the Australian, Sri Lankan and West Indian national sides. Differing from previous years, the pitch will orientate North-West instead of South-West/North-East.

Geelong is also the only regional city to host matches during next October’s T20 World Cup, showcasing six matches over three days – including Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Oman and Ireland.

Big Bash cricket continues in the New Year on January 7 when they take on Perth Scorchers.
