Legendary KRock Football Commentator Peter Le Grand kicked off Kardinia Park Stadium Trust’s ‘Icons of Kardinia Park’ lunch series. The quarterly event celebrates the personalities that have made the Kardinia Park precinct what it is today.
Peter called 1133 games of AFL Football with over 800 involving Geelong. He was awarded the Reg Hickey Medal in 2001, the Geelong Football Clubs highest honour and was inducted into the AFL Hall Media of Fame in 2003.
Many stories were shared overlooking GMHBA Stadium where Peter called many of his 1133 games of VFL/AFL football. Guests included Peter and his family, Frank Costa, Marty Christianson, Wayne Buttner as well as Kardinia Park Stadium Trust Chair Michael Malouf, Deputy Chair Gil Costa, and Kardinia Park Stadium Trust CEO Michael Brown.
Members of the Kardinia Park Advisory Committee have the opportunity to nominate a person who has heavily influenced within the precinct for consideration to be the next ‘Icon of Kardinia Park’.
