GMHBA Stadium has once again been voted Best Regional Stadium in Australia in the 2025 Austadiums Awards.
This was the seventh edition of the awards and GMHBA Stadium has now been voted Best Regional Stadium in each edition of the awards, except the 2021 vote.
The awards are voted on by fans from across Australia who cast their votes to recognise the country’s best sporting venues.
GMHBA Stadium is managed by Kardinia Park Stadium Trust (KPST). KPST is a Victorian State Government entity and exists to inspire moments of connection and joy through sport, entertainment and community activities. KPST is the custodian of GMHBA Stadium – home of Geelong Football Club, Geelong Sports Museum, Geelong Cricket Club rooms, Sports House and Barwon Regional Cricket Centre.
The stadium is a rare asset for a regional city and it is a source of pride for the community. With the completion of the new 14,000-seat Joel Selwood Stand in 2024, GMHBA Stadium can now accommodate 40,000 people, making it the largest stadium outside Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
In 2025, KPST appointed Adelaide Oval Turf Solutions as its new turf management partner for GMHBA Stadium and surrounding landscaped areas. Adelaide Oval Turf Solutions is the consulting arm of the South Australian stadium’s grounds team, enabling Head Curator Damian Hough and his team of experts to provide consultation and turf services to venues around the world. Their proactive and sustainable approach to turf maintenance will ensure GMHBA Stadium continues to be expertly prepared for sport, entertainment and community events, and the team is currently undertaking a comprehensive turf reconstruction.
In 2024/25, GMHBA Stadium generated more than $190 million in social and economic value, 1,200 direct and indirect full-time equivalent jobs for the Victorian economy, and hosted more than 480,000 visitors across 44 on-field events. The list of world class events at the stadium saw 190,000 visitors from outside the local region travel to Geelong to experience the elite venue. And for Geelong locals, more than 21,000 participants took part in five community events at the stadium.
