Festival of Sport Returns

GMHBA Stadium will throw its doors open to the community on Sunday 6 October as the FREE Festival of Sport returns to Kardinia Park.

A national SPL skate competition, an all-new Kids Triathlon and Medieval Jousting displays will headline over 60 ‘come and try’ experiences across one jam-packed day of movement and fun! Last year’s favourites Obstacool, Geelong Cats Stadium tours, stand-up paddleboarding and the Mik Maks will also be returning in 2019.

The Festival, which is a true celebration of physical activity, health and the diversity of sport in the region attracted 15,000 people across two days last October and promises to be another unforgettable day of FREE sport and family entertainment.

Included in the 2019 format is a Healthy Living Zone where patrons can receive a free express health check, a remedial massage and receive free professional health advice. To make sure there is something for everyone, the Active Ageing Zone will also offer older adults a range of activities including seated exercises, Tai Chi, and soft tennis.

“We’re thrilled to open up the Kardinia Park Precinct including the pool for both locals and visitors to explore once again.” Kardinia Park Stadium Trust CEO, Gerard Griffin said.

“The community truly embraced the Festival in its inaugural year, and with even more activations catering for all ages, as well as a multi-cultural food village there will be plenty of opportunities to try something new.”
