Who says Geelong’s Inaugural Festival of Sport has to be all about sport? Make memories and spend time with the whole family enjoying all the performances and entertainment that the Festival has to offer.
On top of all the sporting fun and activities, the Kardinia Park Precinct will be filled with music and artistic shows to keep every member of the family entertained. There will be a number of performances from the Geelong’s leading High School Bands, everybody’s favourites the MikMaks, and a chance to be invoved on the stage with the One Spirit African Drummers.
The MikMaks will hit the stage on both days with their colourful and fun filled performances. The band of cheeky brothers have fast become a staple in kids music and were recently announced the ‘Best Kids Live Show’ in Australia at the What’s On 4 Kids Awards in Brisbane. This was followed by their latest song release debuting at number two on the Australian Children’s iTunes Charts.
The Sweethearts Soul Band from Matthew Flinders Secondary College will bring their trademark sass to the festival with their internationally recognised take on soul, funk and blues, while the Geelong Christian Collage VET Group will fill our ears with the sound of rock. Fresh from winning this year’s Rotary Star Search, Nick Hinks will share his vocal talents in a special solo performance while the St Joseph’s College Band will fill the park with music to finish the Festival.
An interactive performance from One Spirit African Drumming will have people of all ages shaking their bodies to the beat of the drum in an immersive and cultural experience for every ability.
CircArts will bring their mesmerising performances to the festival on Sunday, in a show of strength, athleticism and creativity. Combining sporting ability with entertainment for a performance that can’t be missed! Look up to see the aerial displays and have a chance to come and try it yourself.
The kids from Aerosport Kids Aerobics and Cheer Geelong will also be wowing audiences with their funky and fun routines.
Kardinia Park Senior Citizens will undoubtedly impress the younger generations with their interactive line dancing routine. The instructor, who is a youthful 90 years of age, proves that people of any age can get involved in an active lifestyle.
So join us for a weekend of physical activity, health and entertainment! With something to suit every member of the family, it is sure to be a memorable weekend.
