Australian Supercross Championships at GMHBA Stadium set to reach new heights

The Australian Supercross Championships at GMHBA Stadium just got bigger and more adrenaline-packed.

In addition to the all-new Australian first ‘Triple Crown’ competition format and the opportunity for fans to rub shoulders with riders and teams at the Pit Party, Troy Bayliss Events has announced a host of off-road buggies and bikes to perform at GMHBA Stadium.

There will be excitement and fun on the ground as well as in the air, with trophy cart racing on the track and a host of riders set to backflip, front flip and double backflip in the sky.

The biggest airbag in Australia has been secured for the event and will be set up in front of a huge ramp, sending an incredible lineup of riders on an array of bikes, quads, mini bikes, 4-wheel buggies, postie bikes and maybe even a Harley, into the sky. The airbags are used by Nitro Circus, Crusty Demons and X-Games riders to explore new limits in freestyle craziness.

Three-time world superbike champion Troy Bayliss believes Supercross has huge potential in Australia and wants everyone to see the spectacle of Supercross, with the support entertainment set to be almost as impressive as the racing itself.

“Trophy Karts are purpose-built 450cc Off Road Mini Trophy Trucks, they are fast, fun and exciting to watch. Guys like Jeremy McGrath have raced them in America and we can’t wait to have a go here in Australia.”

“All up we will have six drivers coming from all different disciplines of Motorsport and the first guest to be announced is Mr Hot Wheels himself Matt Mingay, who has a dream shed full of real-life Hot Wheels cars, buggies, and bikes, and he can’t wait to race in Geelong.”

After seeing impressive photos of the Stadium and knowing the quality of events that Troy Bayliss Events produce, Hot Wheels stuntman Matt Mingay said there was no way he was going to miss the event and is excited to showcase his skills.

A star-studded line up of Australian Supercross Champions and Legends will also be making a special appearance at the 13 October event.

Australian dirt bike veteran and Geelong local, Craig Dack and his longtime arch-rival Glen Bell as well as stars Craig Anderson, Troy Carroll, Jay Marmont, Danny Ham, Cameron Taylor and Ryan Marmont are confirmed to appear and will be interviewed by fellow Legend Lee Hogan as they take to the track.

“It will be an absolute thrill for multiple generations of race fans to see so many Legends and Champions of Australian Supercross on the grid together,” enthuses Bayliss.
