Big Bash League Returns to Geelong

It was a glorious evening for a blockbuster doubleheader of cricket and the first sporting event of the season at GMHBA Stadium.

Geelong cricket fans showed up for the January 3 BBL match between the Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers to watch their favourite stars hit the field – many dressed head to toe in red. The freshly resurfaced ground set the perfect stage for an exciting match.

Unfortunately, the final score didn’t reflect the results fans were hoping for, with the Renegades going down to the Strikers by 32 runs.

Geelong Cats superstar Patrick Dangerfield donned the red and black to help “flip the bat” pre-match. Renegades Skipper Tom Cooper won the flip and elected to bowl.

Earlier in the day, the Renegades women’s team continued their winning streak in the WBBL, coming away with their third straight win against the Hobart Hurricanes as they charge towards the finals.

The Renegades will return to their home away from home in Geelong on Sunday January 13 to take on Brisbane Heat in the BBL, while the Renegades women’s side will take on the Sydney Sixers in the WBBL.
