2018 AFL Season in Review

With the release of the 2019 AFL draw on Friday, we thought we would look back at the 2018 AFL season at GMHBA Stadium with some fun facts and stats.

Cats Stats

  • 9 home games
  • 4 games against Melbourne teams
  • 5 against interstate teams
  • Total season score: 224 . 147 . 1518
  • Carlton played in Geelong for the first time in 20 years

Crowd Attendance

  • Over 256,670 people attended games across the season
  • Round 12 against North Melbourne saw the highest game attendance with 31,625 people packing into the stadium

Food Facts

Footy fans sure are hungry people. Crowds took advantage of $3 pies before the bounce in Round 23, buying 3,176 pies in that round alone.

  • 1 in 4 people purchased a bucket of chips
  • Just over 29,800 hot drinks were made over the season
  • Rotary Club Food Van Sales raised $15,000 for the local community.

Recycling

  • The stadium saw 44.19% decrease in the amount of general waste compared to 2017 due to a new recycling program.
