Co-designing Geelong Sports Museum: A Winning Team
Presented by Geelong Sports Museum and Downstream Melbourne

We did things differently at Geelong Sports Museum. Unlike traditional institutions, the museum was developed without an existing collection.

You’re invited to a special event during Geelong Design Week 2024 to hear from Jessica Reid, Museum Manager and Annabel Dundas, Creative and Managing Director at Downstream Melbourne about how the museum came to be. Jess and Annabel will outline collaborative processes and tools they used to harness the diverse ideas and perspectives of various stakeholders and athletes. These stories that connect the greater Geelong community then guided the curation, artefact selection and design.

This inspiring project encourages creativity and innovation, drawing on the ideas and experiences of the community. Those in the design and creative industries, including exhibition professionals, will learn about successful co-design when creating a new space or exhibition.

This event is part of Geelong Design Week 2024, an initiative of Geelong UNESCO City of Design and the City of Greater Geelong. With over 60 events, this year’s program is shaping up to be the biggest and most exciting yet, featuring a diverse range of events and experiences that celebrate innovation, creativity, and community, showcasing why Geelong is Australia’s only City of Design.

Wednesday 27 November, 5pm – 6:30pm.
Geelong Sports Museum at Kardinia Park.

This event is free, although bookings are required.
