Michael Brown
Chief Executive

Michael Brown comes to the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Michael has recently been Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Rugby League World Cup, 2017 and was also Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) for the National Rugby League.

Michael was formerly CEO of the AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015, reporting to a high profile Board led by Frank Lowy. The Asian Cup was an outstanding success by any measure. Over 650,00 people attended the 32 matches in January of 2015, with nine sell outs across five host cities. Prior to joining AC2015, Michael was Deputy CEO/General Manager (GM) of Cricket Australia for 10 years.

He has extensive corporate governance experience and has been on Boards of many not-for-profit organisations. More

Born in England, Michael moved to Australia in 1967. He is married to Jill and has two adult children.

Michael’s career begin in teaching/administration, followed by a three-year period at North Melbourne Football Club as Football Manager from 1990 – 1992. In 1992 Michael joined Tobin Brothers, Australia’s largest family-owned funeral company, where he gain valuable management skills at one of Australia’s largest and most respected funeral businesses.

He was then approached to take over the role of Chief Executive at the Hawthorn Football Club.

From 1998 to 2002 Michael took the Hawthorn Football Club from a revenue base of $11 million to $30 million and grew the staff from 20 people to more than 60. During this time, Michael oversaw some major initiatives for the Club, successfully negotiating with the AFL for Hawthorn to move from Waverly Park to its new home at the MCG in 1999 and negotiated with the Tasmanian Government securing matches in Launceston, significantly increasing its sponsorship value and Tasmanian membership base.

In 2002 Michael took on the role of Deputy CEO/General Manager with Cricket Australia. In this role, Michael was responsible for managing the day-to-day cricket activities of Cricket Australia, including overseeing the operation and contracting of all Australian men’s and women’s cricketers and teams and the national umpiring panel, international and domestic programming, security and anti-corruption issues.

His responsibilities also covered the management of the rules and regulations of Australian cricket and Cricket Australia’s relationships with the Federal and State Governments and ministerial departments.

Michael was also appointed Director of Cricket for the Champions League Twenty20 – the annual international tournament involving teams from Australia, India, South Africa, New Zealand, England, the West Indies and Sri Lanka.

Active in his local community, Michael is an Adjunct Professor at University of Queensland, Justice of the Peace and was a keen footballer and cricketer, playing more than 150 VFA games with Williamstown and Brunswick. He was a member of Williamstown’s 1976 Premiership team.

Natalie Valentine
Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Natalie Valentine has worked with the State Government of Victoria and the Kardinia Park Steering Committee to establish the Kardinia Park Stadium Act, transitional and governance requirements and business operations for Kardinia Park Stadium Trust as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer.

Experienced in stadium and sports venue management Natalie has held positions of Precinct and Australian Open Manager with Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust and Manager of Simonds Stadium and Coordinator of Sports Venues with the City of Greater Geelong.

With focuses on leading business, people and change initiatives across diverse portfolios and events, customer experience, profitability, safety and security Natalie has a great drive and valuable experience to ensure the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust meets all of its requirements.
