GMHBA Stadium to host Galaxy United FC’s Celebration of Women’s Football
Galaxy United FC alongside the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust is excited to announce a fantastic new community event to be held at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday 19 May 2018.
Galaxy United FC, regional Victoria’s only Woman’s National Premier League (WNPL) Club, will be hosting the Bulleen Lions on a day that will see 5 WNPL matches played on the hallowed turf of GMHBA Stadium. The day will showcase the very best football talent that Geelong has to offer from under 12’s through to Galaxy United’s Senior team.
As this will be a festival of women’s football, other promotions and events will be run throughout the day that complement the participation and promotion of women in sport. The day will culminate with a celebratory cocktail function, where a presentation will be made to the Geelong regions Female Football Administrator of the Year.
Kardinia Park Stadium Trust CEO, Michael Brown welcomed today’s announcement. “We’re very excited to be working with Galaxy United FC on this new community event. The Trust is committed to forming partnerships that give back to our community through events, experiences and opportunities to participate. The fact that this event highlights the bright future of local Women’s sporting pathways – it’s a reason to celebrate!”
Galaxy United FC President, Rob Lehmann heralded today’s announcement as a huge step forward for women’s football in the Geelong region. “This announcement is not just recognition for the Galaxy United family but for female footballers across the whole Geelong region. For Kardinia Park Stadium Trust to provide this opportunity is monumental for women’s football and we are committed to making this a very memorable day.”

3.15pm Deakin Ducks FC vs Drysdale SC (FFV Geelong Women’s Division 1)
5.15pm Seniors WNPL
6.00pm ‘A Night of Stars’ Cocktail Function (invitation only event)
